NC rear anti rattle pads supplier

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 2009 3.5 NC
  2. I’m based near: Worcester
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Rear brake rattle.

Chaps.
I had a rattle on the rear near side brakes (Only there under light braking…) so treated the car to a new set of disks and pads (MX5Parts.).
I noticed there wasn’t any anti rattle pads on the old set and the new set didn’t come with them either.
I lubed the back of the new pads and fitted everything as planned (including giving everything a good clean and lube, inc pins).
The rattle is still there, just a lot less now.
Question is, where can I get a new set of anti rattle pads?
BTW, the clips weren’t replaced either, worth changing too, even if they seemed in good nick?

Cheers.
Rick.

I don’t think the factory pads had them on the NC. My rear pads have rattled for the last 9 years!

I’m sure my Pagid rear pads came with a set of shims. I took them off a couple of weeks ago to change the slider pins and I’m pretty sure they were there then. I still have the old, original, pads, will check and see if there are any with them.

Actually, mine does have some sort of clips or springs (untouched since it rolled off the production line in 2013 - it’s only done 17,500 miles and has barely seen salt). They don’t stop rattles, though, and haven’t done so since it was a year old.

Those are the Guide Plates for the pads into the pad retainer. The shims are on the back of the pad. There are no other clips or retainers on the rear brakes.

not sure if this is any help but my ebc greenstuff pads came with the shim plates already attached.

As for clips, I got a set from my local part supplier
tho it did take 2 attempts to get the correct ones as they gave me a mark 2 set the first time

Turns out the rattle is coming from the front nearside! TBF, my hearing isn’t what it used to be, thanks Missus for telling me!
I’ll pop the wheels off and have a look when the weather is better.
The front disks and pads were changed about 24k ago and look ok (viewed without taking them apart…).
Rick.

I guess I meant shims!
