NC Rocker cover bolts sheering

  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Rocker cover bolts torques and sheering .

Hi I changed my rocker cover gasket today - but I sheered one of the bolts… I have no idea how as I didn’t even get to 20 foot pounds - let alone 47 or 80. What did I do wrong? Do people use sealant as well as the gasket?

I’m guessing the torque figures should have been inch / pounds ?

Which would equate to roughly 3.5 to 6.5 ft/lb

Just a hunch , I may be wrong

To be on the safe side , you ought to fully inspect gasket incase it’s been crushed due to over torque :+1:
