Hello to all,
I am looking at making up a seat bracket for NC that would lower the stock seat by around an inch and a half but would also work with aftermarket seat option.
Similar to the GWR type bracket but much better made, laser cut single piece good old British steel.
They would work out around £200 a pair.
Is is there any interest in this?
Thanks, also if this is in the wrong bit sorry. It’s not a for sale post so I didn’t want to put it in there as they have not been made yet.
There is no doubt that the MX5 only fits certain tall people but the problem is people have different lower and uper leg length ratios and also the height from the leg body rotation point can vary.
On my Mk3 a friend at 6ft 2in could not get the seat back far enough to get his legs to fit but I assume he would have been able to get his head under the roof if the rear firewall was further back. Therefore his leg ratio was high compared to his body / head ratio.
Other tall people can get the seat back enough but hit the roof with their head. In those cases shorter leg ratio but higher body / head length.
Without any research it may well be that seat lowering would only assist say 50% of tall people.
The other issue is that at the back the seat bolts to the floor but at the front it bolts to a vertical strengthening surface.
I have not really looked at that issue but it may well not be too easy to sort.
