- My model of MX-5 is: __2.0 NC
- I’m based near: __South London/Kent
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __servicing and costs
Looking for recommendations near me for servicing. Full service costs as opposed to standard oil service. I also want to get the front anti rollbar drop links replaced.
What costs am I looking at for the servicing and anyone know of an MX5 specialist or good main dealer near me?
Thanks in advance!
At what mileage, variations as to what’s needed?
I’d definitely recommend having a full brake check/strip down and change of fluid especially if no evidence of it being done for a while.
Then you may need coolant, plugs and all oils changing too.
The car is on 107k miles.
Asked a local Mazda dealer near me and they’ve quoted me the 10 year service at £569.34 = oil, oil filter, oil flush, coolant, brake fluid, manual transmission oil, rear axle oil, diff oil and a full vehicle health check and full brake check. No mention of spark plugs though?!

Any service history with the car?
If no then and assuming the car is around 10 years old with 107k miles I would carryout the following:
Change engine oil, oil filter, air filter, gearbox oil, diff oil, coolant, spark plugs and brake fluid. Also clean and check brake calipers.
Other jobs if not done are seal scuttle grommets and clean roof drains.

Last service was a year ago. Oil, filter, coolant and a new thermostat and housing at the same time.
Prior to that and the latest three entries showing on the Mazda App:
7/4/18 - 132 months - @ 99k miles / annual mileage 3068 (Main dealer no details)
9/6/15 - 108 months - @ 90k miles / annual mileage 8892 (Main dealer no details)
4/11/14 - 96 months - @ 84k miles / annual mileage 9048 (Main dealer no details)
Obviously its likely been serviced outside of the Mazda network too.
Assuming the coolant was changed for new FL22 last year then this is not required for another 10 years.
If plugs were renewed at 60,000 miles then these are ok until 120,000 miles.
So service now becomes all oils, oil filter and air filter and brake fluid.
One of the most important jobs if not already done is to seal the scuttle grommets, plenty on the forum about this.

Thanks very much for the advice. I have a feeling I’m going to learn a lot, very quickly on here!
Changing all oils is a definite good decision, including brake and clutch fluid, the latter are a combined reservoir.
No need for engine flush and I wouldn’t want it done, just get into the habit of changing the oil regularly. For instance I only cover around 5k miles annually but the oil gets changed every year. Check the oil every week at least and keep it to the max mark on the dipstick is very important.

Thanks. I’ll prioritise that then and take a look at the scuttle grommets and roof drains. Also received my revised dipstick yesterday.
As the car has only done 17,000 miles in 7 years what is the age and condition of the tyres. NC’s do not like aged or mismatched tyres as I found when I bought mine and had the back end slide on some mismatched cheap tyres.

They’re 4 years old but ditchfinder brands (matching fronts/matching rears) so I’ll be replacing asap.
Sounds like you are well on the way to having a nicely sorted car. Enjoy.

Definitely give the brake calipers a good looking over and clean.
This may save you a few headaches with brake judder later on if you intend keeping it👍
