NC Tuning advice Scotland

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC (3.75)
  2. I’m based near: Edinburgh
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Tuning in central Scotland

Hello again. I really feel like my NC needs a smoother power delivery. Low down it’s fine and up top as well but there’s that hesitation mid range that is frustrating.

I don’t know what way to go, turbo, supercharger, simple remap…

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I am based in Dunfermline so a company based in central Scotland would be preferable.

This may be something simple like spark plugs or a fuel filter in which case your local Mazda dealer or indeed any reputable garage can put right. When was your last service? If your talking about race tuning then thats a very different matter.

Sorry, I really should have been clearer, I was meaning performance tuning. It was serviced a couple of months ago so it’s just me being a boy racer and wanting more power :joy:

Hi Graeme,

Ok.

There aren’t that many places in Scotland for power upgrading, never mind if you want MX5 specialists. I would take a trip up to Knockhill, which isn’t far away for you, there are units up there that cater for racing. It’s worth a try and a nice trip for your MX if it’s dry.

Yeah good shout Dave, will do that! Cheers.

Dont think there is anyone at knockhill that does that, happy to be proven wrong though.

Sitech Racing gets quite some good feedback with the Focus RS boys. worth a call.

There’s nothing at Knockhill for you. Just a tyre fitters. There’s ecotune over west, but it’s all generic remaps.

Remember Bbr can do remaps by post. They send you the Device, take some readings from
Car and then they send you a map.

Personally I wouldn’t bother with a map if your not changing anything else. You’d at least want to deal with the ■■■■ manifold / cat issue first before wasting money on a map, or you’ll end up doing it twice.

Minimal gains without a 4in1 manifold.
