Any idea what’s causes this ?
Fist time I’ve ever noticed the gear stick get pretty warm after a 2 hour drive ? I’ve read on the Na it can be to do with rubbers needing replacing or gear box oil topping up? Could it just be lack of heat shields ?
I had this on my NB. I also had really warm air blowing on my left foot. After removing the centre console the gear lever shift boot was perished. Not sure how easy it is to remove the console on NC, but it’s got to be worth a look.
Remember unlike most cars the shifter is connected directly to the transmission. It’s not unusual for rwd cars to start to feel warm around the transmission tunnel and gear lever after long drives. Some have remote shifters but it seems all mx5 models are straight out of the top of the box.
