Good afternoon fellow Fivers, I’m in the process of stripping down the front suspension/brake area of my NC2 and would like to remove the front hub so I can remove the brake shield for restoration, does the front hub just pull out or does it need a special tool to pull it out?
Hubs should come straight off although may take a little persuasion if corroded to the shaft.
The fun starts if you decide to replace bearing alone rather than the complete hub as new bearing would likely require a hydraulic press for installation.
Apologies - watching rugby and got carried away.
Might be easier to remove the hub and knuckle and split them on the bench.
Thanks rhino, I don’t need to replace the bearing thankfully (having replaced bearings in the past I know what a job it is and would probably save myself the aggro and buy the complete hub instead), but I see your point about splitting on the bench, Susie is on stands at the moment and although secure I wouldn’t like to be pushing and pulling the hub too much…
