NC2 owner, shall I get race or road cobra exhaust ??

Hi, I’m wanting to get a cobra exhaust, but I’m really unsure on which one to get

I am also thinking of getting the racing beat manifold

Hello OlySparkes

A Racing Beat manifold with a Cobra race back box will be painful, even with the Cobra road back box

&  RB manifold I found the noise at 2K rpm just too intrusive.  The ideal solution; get a

Roddison Big Back Box.  This has a pleasant deep burble below 3K rpm, as the revs rise so does

the sound, just great.

Talk with Paul Roddison 0870 6000 8787 his 180 BHP enhancement is very worthwhile,

Racing Beat manifold + centre pipe + 200 cell cat + RBBB + Clive Bussey’s Autotronix ECU

enhancement.

Regards

Keith

I have just added a Cobra Race to our NC Sport and very happy with it

Just to add to Keith W’s comments. I have a Cobra Road on my 2007 RC Sport. This was fine and I was very happy with the sound, more sporty than standard but not too loud. However, if you change the manifold and remove the “pre-Cat” that is part of the original manifold noise levels increase significantly. I am now looking to change my Cobra Road for something more standard as a result. Shame as My Cobra exhaust is only 8 months old.

Hello JRG

I’m sure someone will buy the Cobra Road Back Box, I had no trouble selling mine.

If you send by Parcel Force it costs around £28, this includes insurance.

You won’t be disappointed with the Roddison Big Back Box it is specially made for

Roddison’s to suit their 180 BHP upgrade.

Cheers

Keith

Is there any info on this 180bhp enhancement from Rodders ? I can’t find anything on their website about it

Just Google Roddison Motorsport it’s all there - 185 BHP.   I chose to loose 5 BHP but gained extra torque.

Found it http://www.mx5-racing.co.uk/mx5-mk3-power-upgrade/

but £1795! That’s just crazy

In what way?

Okay so after doing quite a bit more research I’ve opted for the packages that BBR offer

Yes that’s much cheaper than the Roddison option

Both BBR & Roddisons offer similar 180/185 BHP  performance up grades i.e.

4 branch exhaust manifold (replacing o/e manifold & built-in restrictive cat) 2.5 inch centre

exhaust section with free flow cat, stainless steel back box & tail pipe trims.

BBR £1995 + VAT £2394

RODDISONS £1795 INC. VAT

I note that BBR offer a 175 BHP up grade for £1095 installed or £995 DIY.  I believe VAT

needs to be added to these prices, although the BBR website does not state this.
