I bought my ND Arctic in 2017, now with 62k miles, 1496cc, the 1500 engine. I had a re map done about 6 months ago, fitting a Pipercross air filter after the last Rally. Increase in power 10 bhp, better mpg , torque improved and exhaust note changed for the better, and since the filter change, more response to accelerator. Overall improvement. Insurance not changed.not get a 2 litre? More expensive in all departments. And i dont really need that kind of expense in Dorset!

Good photo, you can tell from there that the Hundred Years badge is well away from the thickend end of the skirt.
Here is a top/bottom comparison between yours and mine (my picture has been mirrored to face the same way).
You can really see the effect the whole Aero Kit has on the car, especially with the rear skirt.
I am getting very close now to committing to have the kit installed on mine. I am going to hang fire on the rear spoiler for now though. If i go for one, I would like it painted white.
Well I suggested last time that I was “getting very close” to having the Aero kit installed on my Annerversary Edition MX5.
I have just sent an email to Mazda Warrington (my closest Mazda dealer) and asked them for some dates to have the kit fitted.
It will cost me about £220 more to have the front, sides and rear skirts supplied and fitted over and above the cost of buying the parts only from MX-5 Parts and fitting them myself.
By my reckoning that equates to a fiitng cost of £220
I have watched a couple of YouTube videos of the kit being fitted and chickened out of doing it myself, especially when it got to the drilling the holes in the body work stage .
I will let you know how I get on
The black Mazda skirts do not go very far under the car, and I am not convinced that they have significant aerodynamic characteristics. But has anyone here gone further with underbody plates that fill in the gaps, for instance these?
David
To be honest I didn’t envisaged any aerodynamic improvement/changes. None that I would have noticed anyway.
I was just measuring the cool factor
I think if I were doing this I’d go the same route. At £220. For the piece of mind and if they make any mistakes it’s down to them to put it right. Plus no scrambling around on the floor!

I haven’t got those panels yet, the front spoiler and rear diffuser was a big hit to the wallet. I’ve also the front plastic panel with an aluminium one which incorporates a scoop for the gearbox, working my way back.
Deposit has been paid and I am booked in for 16 November.
Big thumbs up to Mazda Warrington so far. They have been really helpful. I have even been able to secure a bit more of a discount on the price I was quoted a week or so ago .
I read somewhere that Mazda stated the aero kit actually improves down force of up to 4% at a certain speed BUT I can’t remember for the life of me where it was…
In any case the car looks SOOOO much better with it, it’s a no brainer really lol
@BlueAgave. That looks really nice. I am considering it more for winter protection. Are there screw holes under the chasis already for these new plates?
David
For the under body panels at the rear some are, others are supplied by Verus. For the diffuser brackets are supplied.
I am not sure we are on the same wavelength, as I dont see how even Verus can supply screwholes. My question was whether there Mazda provides predrilled/tapped holes that can be used for attaching the Verus underbody armour, or you have to create these yourself.
David
The kit uses some of the holes that are there already but need widening and using rivet nuts and others need drilling.
Thanks for the update, BlueAgave. I expected that would be the case.
Best,
David
Big day for me and my MX5 tomorrow. My MX5 is booked in at Warrington Mazda to have her Aero kit fitted.
I got a message from WM telling me the rear skirt is on back order and won’t be available until January .
Good enough they have let me order the rear skirt from MX-5 Parts (it arrived 5 minutes ago ) and they will fit it. No warranty on that part though.
1 more sleep .
Further update tomorrow
Well Mazda Warrington have had my MX5 all day today and fitted the front, sides and rear Aero kit.
I am really really pleased with the look, just gorgeous. I have posted some before and after pictures here …
Mazda Warrington have been brilliant. I got to thank the Technician who fitted the kit personally too.
In better light, (and after a wash), I will post some close up pictures of the detail for anyone else who is tempted to go down this route.
Coolness is now off the scale.
