I don’t know where the dab antenna is, other than it’s somewhere in the car and is not dependent on the main aerial. I’m sure someone will update us and put us right on that point.
I was not keen on the rather long whippy aerial so I fitted a stubby. It looks much better IMO and has had no impact whatsoever on dab radio reception. I haven’t tried it on fm but I’m not planning on using fm anyway.
I bought and fitted a stubby aerial and reception is fine on BBC stations which I believe have a strong signal unfortunately some other stations I listen to suffer from intermittent reception so I put the supplied aerial back on and have no problems now at all on receiving the stations I prefer so I don’t know about a separate receiver for dab I take it that the aerial is for dab and fm
I guess it depends on your area etc.
I do though personally prefer the original aerial but harboured thoughts that it would attract attention from undesirables who would delight in taking it as a “souvenir” may be its just me but back in the day when I had numerous long whiplash aerials which were either taken from the car or simply snapped at the delight of the offenders
Hey ho that’s life
I’ve got that aerial but it does have some affect on DAB. DAB, being digital, either works or it doesn’t. So it’s hard to determine how good, or close to not working, it really is. I do know that some areas I drive around, and got reception with the original larger aerial, now results in cut-outs with the smaller aerial.
