One of the first mods I did when I got the ND was to modify the cup holders. To me the stock cupholders epitomise modern design which prioritises form over function. There was no way they could be of any use to us as neither our hot mugs or our water bottles could be accommodated in them.
To fix the problem I bought a couple of milk shake cups. I would have liked aluminium as it is easier for me to work but the only ones I could find locally were SS. Unfortunately they were a sort of fluted design rather than a simple round section but that does not really matter. I cut them down, added a rubber U section around the rim, and ran a strip of self adhesive foam rubber around the inside to provide a grip.
I then drilled through the base and through the cup holder and bolted the cup in place.
So far they have done over 8000km of of travelling with no problems.
