I was doing an installation of my nextbase dashcam and was looking for a live fuse in the passenger footwell fuse box which I managed to find .
It is in position 13 on the fuse box diagram if anyone was wanting to know and it strangely is listed as blank on the diagram .
I couldn’t find this info without testing it myself.
(mine’s the ND mk1 so worth checking on other models )
I did this so that when I leave my car if anyone hit it etc the camera would capture the impact!
Hope this helps someone in the future.
I used the same position for my Nextbase last year, thinking it would give me protection when parked. After three days of being parked on the drive the battery was flat! Probably won’t be a problem if it is a daily driver but I moved my pickup to the Aux position and sacrificed the parking impact footage. Hope this helps.
Hi , thanks for your reply Paul , nextbase dashcams are meant to cut off the power supply when the car’s battery drops below 11.2v to prevent the battery from going flat as stated below . So not sure why this has happened to yours but I will keep an eye out ! Also My car is also being used daily. And it had this enabled on the previous car which never went flat .
I too had a Nextbase in my focus with the promised switch off at 11.2v.
I came back from a 2 week holiday where the battery was so flat that it wouldn’t even unlock a door.
I too then moved it to live when driving fuse.
Forget about the parked video capture
The video below shows that even when it is set to a live fuse it will use 0 power when it is in ‘sleep mode’ which it goes into after a few mins after your turn the car off. Meaning the dashcam will work without draining your battery and will be able to turn on itself / record when your car feels impact.

Interesting. Maybe I will give it another try.
