ND Dog proof seat cover?

Does anyone recommend a good quality, (but not too expensive) seat cover for the ND?

I just cover the seat with an old towel when my dog is the only passenger. He is my smallish (10 kg), and I’m more worried about him resting his paws on the window sill and accidentally scratching the thin coat of paint. He went out in the new RF today for the first time, sitting on my wife’s knee, and seemed to really enjoy the view with the top down.

My dog’s a bit larger 15kg so it’s her or a human passenger! I just put a soft dog bed on the seat and a universal car seatbelt lead. Dog doesn’t like the roof open or lively driving (according to my wife)! Dog curls up to sleep as soon as moving then just pops her head up when she recognizes we’re close to destination.

Yeah, that’s a great idea - thank you!
Not heard of a car seatbelt lead. That’s something new to me. I have the ND, so going to have to devise a way of protecting the interior door paint too. He won’t be a big dog, but being a terrier they do get really excited!
Thanks, Chris

Yes. Can you provide more details of the “universal car seatbelt lead”, please? I usually put the seatbelt through my dog’s harness, but I am not 100% happy with that, even though he doesnt wriggle or attempt to “escape”.

Hi David,
I did a search and found this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=car+lead+for+dogs&crid=3LEOVQ1RS55YQ&sprefix=car+lead%2Caps%2C117&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_8

And even more interestingly:

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Chris

They were standard kit on Rovers.

These are the best solution we have found, just pop them over the headrest.

Super! Thanks, Chris. I shall look on Amazon.de, as importing from the uk is quite disgustingly prohibitive since Brexit.

Best,

Lol, yeah - the dogs would love those, but I think they are colour swatches

These are great. Just need something to keep the claws off of the door paintwork!

Hi David,
Pretty sure your local Amazon will have the exact same products. They all come from China anyway, I would guess?

Either of these work in my ND:

Attach to collar or harness one end and seat belt socket the other. Admittedly only useful for driver + dog!
I tend to use the black one as shorter, but the grey one is adjustable with a short elastic section. Not sure now if they came from Amazon or a local pet store but should be easily available. The clips on the black one suits other cars belt sockets too.
Hope this helps for what you may be looking for.

Thank you, that’s really helpful.
My girlfriend asked; ‘what happens when she’s in the car? I said well, he gets the privilege to sit in pride of place on your lap!’
'Right answer, ’ she goes, haha!
All the best,
Chris

When the dog is on the wife’s lap this attaches to her belt then onto the dog’s harness.

Brilliant, love it!
Thank you

Recently we lined our kitchen cupboards and drawers with a thin protective EVA film and I wondered if there was a self-adhesive version which might be suitable to protect the exposed paintwork on your ND’s doors.
A search in Amazon found this which might be appropriate?
