ND gear knob on 5 speed NC?

Hi all

I’d like to change the gear knob on my car - I’d really like to put an ND version on as I really like it, I know it will fit but has anyone managed to get a 5 speed insert to fit ?

IMHO the ND gear knob is poor and doesn’t wear well. I replaced mine with an IL Motorsport satin finish one that’s heavier and much nicer to use.

In what way? I was also looking to replace mine with an ND one.

My recollection is it’s quite light and that the fake leather and stitching bit was showing wear when I got my car. I’d have to dig it out of where it’s sat in my garage to give you a better answer. I never liked it anyway.

This is in an ND, not an NC. It was this knob, not sure if I have a photo of it in my car: Round Gear Knob, Satin With 6 Speed Legend, MX5 Mk3 & 4 – MX5 Parts Fits a Mk3 but obviously you want 5 speed so probably this is the equivalent for your car? Round Gear Knob, Satin With 5 Speed Legend, MX5 Mk1 to Mk3 – MX5 Parts

I’ve had to pack mine with bits of card to make it tighten with the legend horizontal but you could probably do better with a half nut or some sort of collar. I had the same issue in a Honda Jazz I had and solved it better by screwing a half nut up from the underside.
