ND Grey soft top restorer and coloured dye

  1. My model of MX-5 is: ND 1.5 Venture Sport
  2. I’m based near: Cambridge
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Where to buy soft top colour dye for my grey roof. I’ve previously used Renovo products to clean and then re-dye but Renovo don’t do a Grey. Carbusonic do an “Onion Grey” but that doesn’t tell me how close a colour match it will be, or won’t be. As an alternative I was thinking of going Burgundy, thoughts on that against the dark blue paint and white leather.

I think colour combinations are a very personal thing. My thoughts are that the manufacturers employ designers to make the best combinations. I’d stay with Grey, or if that proves impossible to obtain, maybe a Dark Blue to complement the paint?

If it was me, I would try the onion grey dye first. As that seems to be the only grey dye available then there seems to be no market to tempt in other suppliers so chances are it will work. You will be doing the whole roof, not touching up an area so colour match is less important than say trying to cover a scratch on a leather seat.

If it doesnt work, there is always the chance for a colour change to a darker colour later. (For what its worth, I would choose black!).
