ND HALF CAGE / ROLL BAR

Recently purchased a '65 plate ND.
Would like to install a roll cage, whilst still maintaining use of soft top.
Im 6’4" so one concern is to ensure it doesnt limit rear seat travel, in fact any improvement would be brilliant.
Ive narrowed it down to either the CYBUL or FABWORX BLACKBIRD. Some questions.

  1. they have notably different constructions. With the fabworx blackbird item being fully tubular. Any obsersations or comments on this?
  2. the cybul cage says the plastics can be reused with no visible cutting. I can find no photos of this. Does any have any photos of the plastics post cage install?
  3. any other comments, experience or other considerations i have missed?
Thanks. Is a lot of money to spend so i want to make the right decision.

Nothing to add I’m afraid, but as a 6’4” person whose also recently purchased a 2015 ND and is interested in fitting a proper roll bar without impeding the hood, I’m also keen to hear people’s experiences.

Another key question I have is will it actually do a better job of keeping me safe and stiffening the car than the stock ones? It was a no-brainer in an NA, but is it as beneficial in an ND?

From what ive seen online the stock aluminium hoops offer only limited protection. I suppose people only ever share the bad photos though, but defo something i want to improve.

First thing you can do is to get some Jass Performance seat lowering brackets to give you a better seat height. From what I’ve read the Balckbird has an excellent reputation maybe not surprising as its the goto for people in the US.

Thanks. Actually fitting my Jass brackets tomorrow. Along with retro fit of an MD2 Telescopic steering column. Very excited

I was going to do the steering column, but found the Jass 48mm drop runners enough. A sod to fit though (according to the garage that did it for me).

I don’t believe you can re-fit the plastics without them being cut with the Cybul.

Most people in the US seem to go for the Hard Dog one, but if it were me I’d go for the Blackbird one. I’ve been wanting one myself for years, but the cost to ship one over here and the risk of if being damaged has put me off so far, unless they’ve since changed they won’t ship it to the UK themselves.

Not sure where you are based but SW Motorsport were once looking at building a cage but never did from what I can see.
I also believe they sometimes do discounts if they don’t offer it and you allow them to use your car to prototype a cage…
