ND MX5 SPORT RECARO - Mazda Genuine lowering springs.

Hi Guys,

I have heard a lot of positive things about these. What are peoples thoughts. Also am I best to get them fitted at my dealer due to the headlight adjustment. Will it give me a firmer setup without it being too firm?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi DJC

I had these fitted to my Sport Recaro around 12 months ago and they have transformed the handling and with a ride height that is fine for everyday use. It is a slightly firmer ride but the better handling compensates for this. As my car was still in warranty had local Mazda Dealer supply and fitting, but took it to local specialist for the geometry set up. Looked at BBR lowering spring’s as had these fitted to my previous Mk3.5 but due to warranty went with the Mazda lowering spring’s, and costs were similar.

As above really, slightly stiffer but handling transformed and much more predictable.  Alignment is key, i had mine installed and aligned by an MX-5 race team.  Headlight reset can be done yourself, i did mine with two paperclips via the ODB2 port.

Thanks for the replies.

Will Mazda be able to do the alignment, as I haven’t got anywhere local to me that would be able to do it.

Thanks,

Daniel

They can do it, i just question how good it would be, my car had ballast added to it to ensure a proper alignment.

Why don’t you take the car here

Buy the springs from Jennings at a discount too.

Can I bump the thread as I am also looking at Mazda or bbr springs.

I spent a lot of money making an Impreza worse with coilovers for a daily car, so Im not a fan of them for a daily car.

BBR charge £600 for their springs fitted which seems really expensive.

Dont let Mazda go near the alignment, you might as well take it to Kwikfit.Find somewhere on recommendation.I took my Mk3 to AK Automotive who set up MX5 race cars. Its amazing the difference when done properly.

I wouldnt get a car lowered or coilovered  iwithout a proper 4 wheel alignment. You will .I had Tein Flex Z fitted plus new alloys & rubber.Ran the car for about 400mls to let it settle, then handed it over to AK.Car is amazing & even though ive done 7k on the Avons there’s 0 uneven wear.

You can get Eibach springs for around £130 the set, factor in fitting and a proper alignment from someone who knows what they are doing, state your location and someone will hopefully be able to signpost you.

As the car is in warranty, is it worth having the dealer springs fitted? I think they are Eibach?
