ND Oil Catch Cans

ND models, what catch cans are people using?
the Verus one is about £450 (ooof), but some cheaper ones look tobe mounded for the LHD cars specifically.

or perhaps a universal one would be best? its all just a intercepting the pcv and air intake flows, right? simple ‘wiring diagram’ of 4 hoses.

thoughts?

I bought one but had to return it as it just would not fit my car as it was designed for a left hand drive car. The description on eBay did not identify that it was for left hand drive cars only but only referenced the manufacturers catalogue (which was very hard to find on the internet), where it stated in the small print that it was not suitable for right hand drive cars. So, the supplier who was a UK supplier was supplying it to the UK market knowing it would not fit UK cars! He refused to provide a refund and having returned it to eBay, eBay themselves took up my case and provided a refund.

So, the moral is, be very careful that you are sure that what you get is for a UK/Japanese spec car!

I remember @AdamR28 fitting one a while back…

And a heck of a lot of junk it has collected since!

Total cost was about £50, no need for the fancy setups (Verus, etc) IME.

linky winky?
youre catching oil then?

ive got a catch can on my list, as im getting some burning oil smell when giving repeated welly/ redline pulls. its not strong. but, theres no leaks. had a thorough check. so i can only assume theres some oil feedback loop back into the cylinders. im expecting to catch some escapees.

Plus some fuel hose in appropriate size from local motor factors, think it was 8mm and 10mm.

Have emptied it 2 or 3 times now, so its taken at least half a litre of crud out of the system.

bougt it

and probably a silly question - did you fit this between the manifold and pcv lines? asking, as something like the Verus also takes a filter feed between breather and intake pipe.

Can’t remember with any certainty now, unfortunately!

did you swear, curse, and cut our hand 100 times when fitting it? if so, then it was probably trying to reach the intake hose at the bottom of the inlet manifold  lol
at least - so ive seen on some youtube vids. havent tried myself.

Yes. I would definitely try to rent a small person to help next time

The use of a C3/VW504 engine oil which has less volatility will reduce the amount of oil mist travelling through the crankcase ventilation system and creating deposits on the back of the intake valves - a problem on all direct injection engines, to greater or lesser degree.
