ND Rear view mirror replacement / upgrade

  1. My model of MX-5 is: ND - 1.5 - 2015
  2. I’m based near: UK
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: I need to replace the interior rear view mirror - its beginning to delaminate / are there any upgrades that people have found - mine does not have auto dip or a dashcam - its simply a mirror

I recently fitted a zoom mirror from Rev9.
They are available in different styles and colours. Not cheap but look great.

Hi Mark, looks great, any improvement over the standard ?

I prefer it, it isn’t as wide but the rear view is great the glass is tinted blue.
If you’d like when I get home at the weekend I’ll take another photo showing the rear view

There are lots of people in the US who have upgraded them with borderless mirrors and mirrors with door openers integrated (would love one of those myself), worth having a look on the miata forum.

Yes please.

Err-you must do a lot of reversing . Call me old fashioned but I like being able to , you know, to see as much of the road ahead as possible ? It’s bloody enormous - what is wrong with the standard one?

Thank you

Err, I do as much reversing as any driver like yourself.
I’m quite modern in my approach to being able to see the road ahead, hence the reason for fitting a smaller mirror.
The original Mazda supplied and fitted mirror measures 245mm wide.
My new fandangled go faster Japanese upgraded mirror that also looks nice from all angles is only 210mm wide.
Which I think is smaller unless my maths is incorrect?
So, I can see 35mm more of the road ahead…result!

I have a 1.5 ND Icon that comes with the standard manual dipping mirror and I fitted the auto dip mirror which is also larger from a more upmarket ND that I bought off eBay. If you get one make sure it’s got a piece of the loom that plugs into the back of the mirror, you then just run a live and earth to it from a piggyback fuse off the fuse box behind the passenger side kick plate. I did list how I did it on here a few years ago.
