I got the current car a few months ago (2019, 1.5 Sport Nav+) and it has had a windscreen replacement at some point. The job has been done pretty well though I needed to add some sealant under the top garnish to reduce wind noise.
With the light control on auto then the switching to main lights on and off based on external light conditions seems inconsistent, headlights come on when there doesn’t seem to be a need based on external light levels.
I know there should be a sensor recalibration done when replacing a windscreen, is this something that can be user initiated or how significant a job is it for a dealership to do?
Found this which seems to be the procedure, quite involved…
I think it’s a simple light sensor, and the sensitivity can be changed by going into the car settings menu.
There’s no actual calibration to be done.
I turned mine to minimum sensitivity and it stopped most, but not all spurious headlamp turning on.
If it’s any consolation my wife’s CX5 is just as bad, it’s just a Mazda thing I think.
Our CX5 has adaptive LED’s, which actually work really well.
After having a warranty claim for the same type of lights (£1200 each - ouch) on our last CX I wonder if having them constantly turn on and off is part of the problem. No issues with Mazda replacing them though.
