I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Car mats
Have only done 3500 miles and the Mazda drivers mat has already started to wear badly.
I’m looking for replacements, Vehicle Mats UK seem to have nice ones and in beige to match the seats.
Has anyone got any ideas on other companies that make some good quality mats?
Must admit I always remove OE mats immediately after purchase and replace then with heavy duty rubber mats from MX5parts as they are much more practical, and cleanable, on a day-to-day basis. The OE mats I keep for “Best”, you know, special occasions.
I wouldn’t even consider these for best. They are made so cheaply.
I’ve noticed this with the last few cars I’ve had, I think the manufacturers are just trying to put the cheapeast thing they can find in the cars as they normally end up giving the mats away.
I have had two N,d MX5 and originally came with a pair of very thin poor quality mats, but appt Mazda sell a de-luxe version mat set which are def much better,i had originally got a set from MX5 parts which were very good, then when i oredered my next mazda the garage supplied a set of the de-luxe ones which show no signs of wear,a totally different sort of mat much more heavy duty, thicker base and much deeper pile.
Yeah my car had the original thin budget Mazda set, the driver’s side pretty much worn through after 14k miles.
I got a luxury Mazda MX-5 icon set from MX-5 parts for £25.
They come with a self adhesive carpet patch you stick to the plastic heel mat to reinforce it, to stop wear.
Try Carmats UK. Sell variious mats of different quality and price, that you can tailor to your own colour spec., with trims. Worth comparing the price with Mazda originals and MX5 parts.
