I have not seen anyone say that you can but if you find that we can then you will be doing a great service.
IanHP has suggested you can load routes, so I have written to Visteon for a definitive answer. MyRoute App support seems to indicate you can upload routes as they use HERE maps, and they have said using Apple or Android play it will work. Once the snow disappears, I am going to give it a go, as I have just taken out a lifetime subscription.
Likewise on the introductory drives, these routes had been manually entered. I use this facility fairly regularly and find it pretty decent when setting up a club ‘run’.
If I’m travelling longer distance A - B I’ll most likely use Google Maps on Android Auto (or Waze) for its ability to notify of disruption up ahead etc…
@Moocher - In 10 years of the ND nobody has reported being able to find a way to import a route, we all wait for any news you get back from Visteon.
May I suggest the option to upgrade your USB unit and firmware and go with Android or Apple Carplay?
Works really well and you can just plug your phone in and run the touchscreen with MyRouteApp.
Excellent instructions for this elsewehere in the forums.
The USB fit looks scary but is really straightforward.
If you are going to use the MyRoute-App planner do have a look at the “compare routes” option that is available if you have a Gold subscription.
It identifies differences between the routing algorithms between Tomtom, Garmin/ Here and Open street maps. (When you see differences you simply add extra waypoints to align the routes).
The guys at MRA have produced a great video explaining the difference between route and track navigation if you want to import gpx files etc
I already have Android Play, so have created a route, but have not been able to get voice commands,. I get the map and the system navigates the route, but no sound at all. I have checked all the boxes on the audio menu of MyRoute, and checked the car settings, but still no sound. I’m wondering if I need special usb lead. Did you experience any issues with getting the voice commands to work?
Thanks.
Right, all sorted now.
Visteon were kind enough to ignore my email, so I have resorted to just subscribing to MRA Navigation Next (on the computer, making it easier to plan routes), and loading the MyRoute App to my phone. Any route I create using the software on the computer, the route is mirrored on my phone on the MyRoute app. Connect the phone to Android Play and the route appears on the display, but initially I did not get any sound. I went into the Android Auto software on my phone, and granted Microphone permissions and hey presto, it all works as I had planned.
The upshot is that I am not going to try and load routes onto the inbuilt sat nav, as in between all this, I phoned Mazda and they had no idea why it wouldn’t work, so with that confidence, I decided to use the app on the phone to provide the route mapping, now with voice commands and produce a pdf file for written directions.
