I’m thinking of changing the drivers seat for something with a bit more support. However, I expect this to cause problems with the side airbag. Does anyone know what will happen, I’m expecting an airbag warning light at the very least. How can this be overcome?
I would suggest trying to get an MX5 Racaro seat. They are much better than the standard seats and will have all the safety equipment and wiring that match the car.
There may be ramifications as a result of removing safety related items but that is up to the individuals conscience.
The standard seat is easily modified to give more lumber area support if that is what you are looking for. Let me know and I will advise.

I am looking for more lateral support, not lumber and modifying the standard seat is not an option as I intend to used a four point harness and the aperture at the top of the seat doesn’t go all the way through, so I would have to damage the seat cover to allow access for the belts.
It’s not an issue I ran two Sparco QRT-Rs in my RF. Just put a resistor across the airbag wires. The only issue you have is the weight sensor in the passenger seat, I just put up with the light on the dash as I couldn’t get rid of it!

Hi, fabricated a fixed seat mount. Are you fitting bucket seats to yours?
Yes, I’m looking at all sorts of options at the moment. I don’t need a FIA seat, therefore it keeps the price down, but, I’m worried about the mounts, plenty of mounts available for the earlier models, but not ours. I was thinking of buying a seat that will fit in the car for the width, then fabricating my own mounts.
