ND Security question

That battery kill thing would be impractical for every day use. You’d lose bits of data like radio programs, mileage, possibly ecu learning etc.
I’ve built a kill switch for my daily which kills the smart key feature via the fuse box.
A thief can still get in, but unless he knows where the switch is, the car won’t start.

I have a very ingenious and rarely used method of securing my mx5. A garage. I believe that they were intended for this use rather than lawnmowers and assorted junk!

I’ve fitted a tracker to mine and bought stickers for the windows

Whenever I see stickers like that I assume the owner can’t afford the deterrent . Obviously you can , but you know what I mean

Most stolen cars in 2023 were the Ford Fiesta and Ford Escort.

Some thieves target high end cars but most don’t.

Ford Escort? Maybe in 1983

The UK’s most stolen vehicles in 2023

  • Ford Fiesta - 5,976 stolen.
  • Ford Focus - 2,120 stolen.
  • VW Golf - 2,038 stolen.
  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class - 1,786 stolen.
  • Range Rover Sport - 1,631 stolen.
  • Range Rover Evoque - 1,489 stolen.
  • BMW 3 Series - 1,466 stolen.
  • Vauxhall Corsa - 1,110 stolen.

As published in GB News so it must be correct.

Looks like a bestseller list, I’d be interested in the numbers proportional to sales.

Ford charged for their fix and didn’t put out a bulletin to owners as far as I know either, so plenty of Faraday-only or nothing owners still I’m sure.

In the United States Kia and Hyundia stopped installing immobilisers for a few years, they became trivial to drive without the key and it didn’t go well.

Newer Mazdas have GPS tracking by default.

Been using one of these for years and years…
