ND2 - BBR high performance springs vs Eibach Pro kit

  1. My model of MX-5 is: ND2
  2. I’m based near: Rugby
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Springs

Hi Everyone, I’m new to MX-5 ownership and I’ve got a lot of useful information from this group - thank you!

I’m thinking of changing the springs for something a little firmer (not particularly looking to go lower) - given my requirements, the choices seem to be BBRs own springs or the Eibach pro kit

Has anyone else looked at these two - any advice / comments / suggestions appreciated

No experience of Eibach pro kit on an MX5.

However going back 15 years I had a mk2 Jetta gti and ran koni dampers with koni springs…not happy
Kept dampers ran spax springs…not happy
Koni damper with Eibach… total transformation.
Since then Ive fitted Eibach pro kit onto a Bora TDI 150, BMW E46 and a Merc C320 cdi which I still currently own.
The Merc is on Bilstein B8 dampers, hybid turbo and intercooler and running approx 320bhp, it weighs well over 1.5 ton and handles a dream.
Only once snapped an Eibach (rear spring) after hitting a crater in the road.
Yep Im partial to the pro kit, they’ve served me well on different styles of cars and are in my opinion a quality product.
They are progressively wound so not to harsh for daily driving, then firm up when your pushing it.
Oh and I sourced the kit for the Merc directly from Germany …cost £139 , saved well over £100 on UK price. Delivery was £18

Oh just noticed … Welcome to the club !!

I’ve run the pro kit on my ND1 for the last 4 years (just changed to MeisterR GT1s), I’d also run Eibach Pros on a Clio 172 previously, loved them on both cars and couldn’t fault them.

Getting a decent alignment / setup done afterwards is key.

In my view just doing the springs is a waste of time. With non sport suspension the Eibachs blow out the non bilstein dampers (ask how I know this) and with the yellow Bilstein dampers… well those are hopeless.
Do springs and dampers . Eibach pro and KONi Sport top adjustable are excellent but if you do it all at the same time you’re into Meister R money. More actually if you see their new entry level kit.
