Need New (or Better) Number Plates

In the (many) daily emails I get from Ebay, was this one -

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-PRESSED-NUMBER-PLATES-Metal-Car-Registration-Plate-Embossed-Reg-Plate-/282815381401

Pressed Metal plates, £13.25 per set - Half what I paid at Halfords for the plastic ones! Presumably without the Euro logo - but who needs it now anyway? (back to the separate GB sticker - - )

I can’t see a problem Gerry, unless others can?

Infact I’m thinking of new plates myself and considered the pressed type plates so thanks for the link. There’s plenty of positive feedback and one negative from someone who actually wanted non legal plates, which they refused to do.

They say they’re fully DVLA compliant (Including being reflective?), and German, Italian etc., number plates seem to be pressed metal so they seem a good option!

PS:  Did you note the supplier’s address -  104 JAIL Lane!

Yes I spotted that, seems a private residence, wonder if they’ve had form?

Not a big fan of the pressed plates but if you like them don’t think you can go wrong with the eBay ones.

Nothing looks worse than plates where the backing is delaminating or with rust staining around the screw holes.

A new set is one of the cheapest ways of making a car look tons better. You will very rarely see a car on a dealer forecourt with old plates.

You can buy GB stickers that fit on number plates, same size as the ones built into plates quite cheaply on EBay

I’ve bought several sets in the last few years, always from ebay, and all with the name and postcode of the maker and the BSAu154 marking so fully legal and MoT compliant.  Never been asked for the documents either.

I have a couple of cherished numbers, so I sometimes have to buy new plates if I do the transfer.  I don’t like drilled plates and bodywork, and don’t need the built in GB thing, so I tend to change them anyway.  Haven’t got round to changing the MX-5 ones yet, I’ll wait until I put the cherished plate on when the insurance renews - saving the admin fee!  I don’t mess around with the spacing - always looks naff to me when people do that.

I haven’t had the pressed ones - ‘clean’ plastic ones look the least fussy with no border, large dealer names and phone numbers, or EuroGB bits.
