Hello all, I have been cleaning my engine bay up and have done something sillyI have taken the wiper motor out of my 1990 mk1 and taken the nut off the motor shaft spline but stupidly have lost the nut, not a problem I thought as I can just put a new M8 nut on but it looks as though the spline thread is not M8 any chance someone can tell me what the thread is.
You will probably find it if you part the bottom of the wing from the sill it most probably will have fallen through the drain aperture in the inner wing. Be prepared for lots of soil like rubbish coming out of there but this is something worth doing anyway as lots of detritus builds up there causing rust problems. You can normally just remove the two M10 nuts that hold the bottom of the wing on and then flex the panels apart. that or also undo the midway bolt found between the door hinges.
I found an M10 1/4" drive socket in one of my wing / sill areas when i first got my car. Hosed them out and there it was on the drive ?
Thanks for the reply I will check all my 8mm nuts that I have taken off the car in case one is fine thread, I took the nut off on the bench so it cannot be in the wing but your right about the rubbish collecting in the wing as I have removed this before
