I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: New Battery
I need a new battery for my 2014 NC 3.75, I can’t find any recent posts.
The existing battery is the original Panasonic, so it’s not done too badly.
Can any one please recommend a new one, I see the Yuasa seems to be popular but any help in getting the the right one would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Steve
This one, can be found slightly cheaper depending where you go but tayna were excellent in my opinion https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/yuasa/ybx5053/reviews/p2/
I topped up the charge level before fitting. There is a vent plug that needs to be removed ( directions in the box)
Be aware your car will run a bit rough after you change the battery as the ecu has to relearn the idle settings and the dsc light will be lit on the dashboard until you reset by turning steering from lock to lock with engine running.
Radio code will be needed if required.
Your old battery is worth a few quid at the local scrapyard which makes the new one cheaper.
Imho, absorbed glass mat or AGM batteries are the way to go.
They are sealed for life, you can even mount them on their side, and have loads of cranking power.
Yuasa make excellent AGM batteries, which last a long time. Sadly though, they allegedly don’t make one to fit the MX5.
If that’s true, I’d be tempted to stump up for the Panasonic, which is also AGM.
I bought a new one this year for my 3.75 and got this one.
5 Year warranty.
Got it off eBay in the end with next day free delivery.
Just edited and found the links for you if you want this one.
