New buyer looking for some advice!

Test drove my first example this afternoon - 30th Anniversary ND2 soft-top.

Really enjoyed it! Gearbox felt lovely and the car put a smile on my face when we got out of the traffic.

The bolster on the Recaro seat was pretty scratched up - is this normal for a 40k miles car?

I’m trying an RF at the weekend, and looking at my first NC tomorrow. Still torn as to which way to go…

Part of me felt the ND wasn’t that quick, so going for a cheap NC and using the money on BBR could be better. Then I start wondering whether to find one someone has already taken to BBR or not. So many options.

Pitlane has an NC with the BBR 200 kit on, but it’s done 80k miles, and I’m thinking that might be too many.

If it’s the red one, then it’s a bit on the high side at £10k for the mileage but does look nice. And it’s reserved now. I enquired through their website but no response, second time that’s happened. Strange as they seem to have a good rep.

There’s a BBR on Autotrader for shy of £7k, private sale. Higher mileage but may be worth a look?

Or this. 2015 BBR

You’d hope at 82k miles anything wrong with gearbox etc would have surfaced. With a £20k budget you’d have change to address any issues

I think if I was going to go ND, I’d want an ND2. But then I’m up at £19k ish with no budget left for mods.

I’m also thinking that even though it would be cheaper to get a BBR car, I’d probably prefer to go stock and BBR it myself later once I appreciate what stock is like first.

So I’m probably back to NCs again

There’s a couple of 25th Anniversary ones about, but they charge a premium and do I want to mod a collectors edition?

A lowered NC in the right colour can look the bee’s…

Potential candidate, low mileage:

Then again, the 25th does look nice and this one is just up the road from me if you want me to take a look on your behalf:

Hmm that Black edition one is nice. I’d filtered out white, so it wasn’t showing in my results, but with the black roof I’m semi-interested

I’m actually hoping to go see that specific 25th Anniversary one tomorrow morning.

I’m not entirely sure I want to pay the premium if I’m planning to do cosmetic mods, but I think I should see one in the flesh first!

Good luck, let us know what you think :+1:

Saw this Dolphin Grey 2013 this evening

Took a few pics of the suspension etc. Anything look terrible?

I’d agree with that sentiment.
It might not affect future values but then again, it might.

Saw the 25th Anniversary today

Lovely colour. 1 lady owner from new and half the miles of the grey one I saw yesterday, but didn’t really feel like it was in better condition. If anything to me it looks more ‘rusty’ around the suspension than the grey one?

It’s hard to tell from a general poke around but both look pretty consistent for the age from the photos.
I had a 2011 NC which looked much the same but surface rust only and no serious corrosion.
If it were my money, I’d probably look for one from Mazda, in late Sept/Oct when they may (or may not) be more keen to do a deal. Then take it for an inspection with someone like TheMx5Restorer for peace of mind.

Seems this is the only one I have of my NC

This is the underside of my current, 25yr old NB

Nice - looks very clean! But of course that’s all been treated.

Man I’m not sure I’ve the patience to wait until October

This Sport Graphite is quite tempting, and sits price wise in the middle between the gre Sport Tech and the 25th Anni Coles Auto Collective used cars in Norfolk

I think the white Sport Black trumps it…

So in the end I got rather lucky (I think at least) and was able to pick up a black BBR Recaro Edition NC from Pitlane Performance.

It’s with them to get undersealed and possibly put a decent head unit in etc. so can’t pick it up just yet, but am rather excited

Will probably start a proper thread in the Readers Rides section at some point, as definitely have plans

Worth waiting for, the factory side skirts and front lip would be a good choice.

Where would be the best place to get those from?

I’d been looking at these Full Body Kit Mazda MX-5 Mk 3 (NC) Facelift - Maxton Design UK

The site sponsor still has them listed as in stock:

Cool thanks. Not had much chance yet to look around at different kit options
