Test drove my first example this afternoon - 30th Anniversary ND2 soft-top.
Really enjoyed it! Gearbox felt lovely and the car put a smile on my face when we got out of the traffic.
The bolster on the Recaro seat was pretty scratched up - is this normal for a 40k miles car?
I’m trying an RF at the weekend, and looking at my first NC tomorrow. Still torn as to which way to go…
Part of me felt the ND wasn’t that quick, so going for a cheap NC and using the money on BBR could be better. Then I start wondering whether to find one someone has already taken to BBR or not. So many options.
Pitlane has an NC with the BBR 200 kit on, but it’s done 80k miles, and I’m thinking that might be too many.
If it’s the red one, then it’s a bit on the high side at £10k for the mileage but does look nice. And it’s reserved now. I enquired through their website but no response, second time that’s happened. Strange as they seem to have a good rep.
There’s a BBR on Autotrader for shy of £7k, private sale. Higher mileage but may be worth a look?
I think if I was going to go ND, I’d want an ND2. But then I’m up at £19k ish with no budget left for mods.
I’m also thinking that even though it would be cheaper to get a BBR car, I’d probably prefer to go stock and BBR it myself later once I appreciate what stock is like first.
So I’m probably back to NCs again
There’s a couple of 25th Anniversary ones about, but they charge a premium and do I want to mod a collectors edition?
Lovely colour. 1 lady owner from new and half the miles of the grey one I saw yesterday, but didn’t really feel like it was in better condition. If anything to me it looks more ‘rusty’ around the suspension than the grey one?
It’s hard to tell from a general poke around but both look pretty consistent for the age from the photos.
I had a 2011 NC which looked much the same but surface rust only and no serious corrosion.
If it were my money, I’d probably look for one from Mazda, in late Sept/Oct when they may (or may not) be more keen to do a deal. Then take it for an inspection with someone like TheMx5Restorer for peace of mind.
