what milage did you get out of the original disc’s

I can’t answer for Emilie … but on our MX5, around 45,000 miles

The previous owner changed the front brake discs shortly before 45k, and when we bought the car I got the rear discs changed with 2,000 miles of 45k.

A lot will depend on how the car has been used, of course!

I’m afraid I can’t say as I only bought the car about 3 months ago

yes but going by the age of the car I would say the disc’s you changed were the originals

Possibly it’s a 2015 and had 59,000 on the clock

And I only changed the front ones

Quick Q: How much should I be looking at for rear pads? Dealer just quoted me £462 for rear discs and pads on my ND2, and weren’t able to quote pads only?

Apparently one rear pad is down to 2mm, God knows how as car has only done 35,000, albeit only 10k with me.

that’s ridiculous for rear discs and pads if you’re not able to do it yourself try a quick fit type place should be half that price. it should be only one hours labour it’s not a big job.

Rear discs/pads should last a fair few miles before they need changing, probably get changed more on condition ie rusted/pitted than wearing out.
Genuine parts (Mazda) will always be quoted by a dealer so expect high parts price.
I fitted front Brembo discs/pads to my daily driver recently, about the same size as the NC, around £100 for the parts, fitted myself.
Rears should be cheaper parts to buy than fronts then budget for fitting. Any decent garage can fit brakes of course, it’s not just a dealer fit only.

I paid £320 all up for all 4 sets of brake pads and front discs

Hahah Like what you did with that ‘brake’ stuff. Nice job - looks very smart. I do favor black wheels and am planning to get them along with my next ‘metal roof’ MX coz it has no garage. Got to wait 'til first of '25 tho … IF I CAN!!

uh, no thanks lol

I changed my rear pads as the discs when I bought the car 3 months ago, which were smeared in black marks as original , 7 years old and 20k miles, so contaminated. For the cost of the Brembo pads at Eurocarparts, it was a no brainer to change them than faff around sanding pads that were old. Took an hour of my time , as had a piston retractor kit . Now have nice shiny discs and not to worry for many years.
Ironically the Mazda dealership said the pads were at 4mm and needed replacing and the discs were at limit on previous owners inspection sheets. Which the discs are perfect and pads at 4mm dont need changing. More money being taken from customers unnecessarily from dealers.

yes, advising 4mm pad changing is bizarre

Hi. I’ve just had rear discs and calipers replaced. It was just over £500 if that helps.

I’ve just had to order disks and pads all round on my 2016 ND after 22000 miles.
MOT failure as the rear disks were “fluttering” excessively.
The thinking is that they got overheated on a track day and warped slightly.
Complete set of front and rear disks and pads were £200 from Autodoc…

Inc fitting>?

Autodoc is an online supplier in Europe. So, not labour inclusive. But its a couple of hours at a sensible pace to do. Obviously capable spanner wielders find Autodoc price wise a good place to buy.
I needed a sensor for my BMW , which was £350 from the UK , but £160 from Autodoc. Was the same VDO part but the BMW logo scratched out. But there is a delivery wait for parts of a few days to a week, normally.

Ah! I see. Well I’m not a mechanic but my local mechanic only charged £80 for labour out of £320 so I was very happy with that.
