I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __
Just replaced the stock with a Nardi. Huge difference in weight . The stock knob really is quite heavy. Anyway, figured out the grub screw issue, you have to use a hook tool, pull down the rubber cover and then when the screws are right you have to really work hard to sit the head into the bottom rubber cover. Then it’s firm.
But it makes a big difference, well to me it does. The lighter taller gear knob has made gear changing must nicer, no clunkyness, just a lovely clicky change and it just feels so light .
Haha, I went the other way.
I installed a Voodoo Magnum spun aluminium ball that reduces the height/length of the lever for a shorter, heavier, more positive throw.
Each to his/her own I guess…
Heavy, dense, to dampen vibration. Shortening the throw obviously increases the effort.
I had a Team Voodoo knob, but have settled on a nice Japanese teardrop; its quite heavy (no idea what the metal is), but gives a nice throw action, precise like a SMLE, because the throw isn’t shortened. And I like the appearance. The shift lever is polished (or the top is), and I have used a tight fitting O-ring to push down the leather boot a bit.
Good idea about the o ring.
The low height of the Voodood Magnum does tend to mean your fingers are contacting the boot more, which will wear it.
I imagine any aesthetically pleasing tight fitting collar or ring will work.
Hmmmm, maybe red to match the red on black accents in the Mikako interior …
