New member - 2 questions (club meet + cat)

Hey guys

I’m a new member but long time MK1 owner, I have two questions for you guys:-

  1. My MK1 Eunos is currently having some work done to it and should be back in the road by Christmas… is it acceptable to turn up to the meets without an MX5?

  2. Has anyone got any recommendations or links for a catalytic converter replacement for a 1992 MK1 1.6 MX5 please?

Look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome Mr & Mrs Figg-Jones

To the MX-5 Owners Club

Especially with being a long time owner of a MK 1 [NA} Eunos

Can’t answer your second question but perhaps understand your first

My NB 2005 [owned since 2007] …still works to be done…until I feel she is OK looking enough to turn up to a meet

And it can be a little scary to arrive ‘solo’ [I’m a widow]

Meanwhile sincere congrats to you both :ring: :clinking_glasses: :cake: :couple:

Absolutely, unlikely you’ll be asked for it, your membership card shows proof of your addiction too :grinning:

Hi Dan, you can get a cat from mx5parts.com but as your car is an import, it only needs to pass the non-cat emissions test. If manufactured before August 1992, it only needs to pass the idle test. If manufactured after August 1992, it needs to pass the fast idle test aswell. So you can get away with a de-cat pipe. The size of cat or de-cat pipe you need is 370mm. Looking forward to meeting you Dan and Mrs Figg-Jones. There’s generally someone there from around 6ish onwards.

looking forward to meeting you guys too! im bringing my parents with me, funny story about the MX5 i own, it was my mums 40th birthday present back 25 years ago rom my dad, they kept it for a while then sold it on, and i found it for sale last year and bought it back, and were currently reconditioning the engine.

Hi

If you’re interested I’m organising the Sth Wales MX5OC monthly run on Sunday 17th. If your MX5 is off the road you’re still more than welcome to come along.
