New member in West London

Hi all

New member and new owner. Used to have a MX-5 NA back in the day, c. 1997 i think, 1.6 racing green.

Always loved it but life took over and now things are easier got myself another one. Had to be an NA as just love the shape and pop ups.

Ended up with this 1.6 Eunos beauty from 1990. The guy i bought it off had done a bare bones restoration during lock down: sandblasting and refinishing components; new mohair hood; respray, lacquer and underside wax for the body. In the sun it looks brand new.

Drives beautifully except for an odd stall issue that isn’t a problem but is annoying. I think I’ve seen some posts on it so will do some searching before i post.

He liked it original so has had no mods except new coilovers, it even had the Japanese flare still in it (disabled mind you) . As a Japanese import, I can’t find much info from the VIN. Can anyone help with that? Am i ok posting the VIN here?

Things i am considering doing, but will post about later for more info:

Replacing the stock radio/cd player which doesn’t work. Something sympathetic plus how hard, getting some help etc.

Replacing seats for leather, i always prefer leather.

Getting maybe a little bit more power, not crazy yet, though i am considering a Rocketeer but think might be too much.

Thanks all

TBH not being a paramedic I had a dream job drive, eat, sleep, repeat 7 days on 7 days off for 8 years. Would still like to do the 18 months I took off early to look after my Dad, if the opportunity comes up and I am still fit enough. Thanks for the pic of how it was :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :+1:

Ahh, they always come back

Nice car and welcome to the West London area.

We have just recruited a new West London Area Coordinator so hopefully things will be looking up in 2026, events wise (not least the Spring Social at Brooklands). Keep an eye out on Club emails and the West London Calendar.
