New member MX5 MK2.5 in Warwickshire

Hi everyone. I’ve recently become a MX5 owner, so I’m still learning and finding my feet. I would welcome any help and advice that you’d like to share. One of the first things I’m keen to get done is getting the treatment done to the underside.
Any other tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks :+1:

Welcome from Aberdeenshire :scotland:

Lots of good friendly advice on here. I’ve recently had the underside of my NC treated with Lanoguard which has good reviews. I got mine done at my local garage as its a lot easier than crawling under the car yourself.

Welcome from London, just to bring you up to speed on the bewildering MX-5 nomenclature you have a fine example of a Mk 3, also known as an NC, taken from your vin. Mk3 came in 3 versions from the factory 2006 - 2008, pre face lift. Facelift 2009 to 2012 Mk 3.5, Mk3.75 2013 - 2014, 2nd facelift.

Wishing you many smiles per mile :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :+1:

Thanks very much, I appreciate the knowledge you’ve just shared. I’m still getting to grips with it and learning to drive it. Can’t believe how great these cars are and what a cult following they have.
All the best :+1::smiling_face:

Great Looking Mark 3 NC

Welcome to the Club :handshake:

From Mark 2.5 NB Owner in the West Mids

The Mk 2 ended in June 2005 …hence you having a Mark 3 NC

Don’t fret about being initially bewildered with the different models as you will soon recognize the difference

Mark 1 [NA] has pop-up headlights
Mark 11 [NB] doesn’t and has a single exhaust
Mark III [NC] wider wheel arches and a twin exhaust
Mark IV [ND]…looks like the Batmobile !!!

Well that’s how I differentiate

Thank you! I have much to learn! My first tasks I want to get done is the rust protection underneath and a few paint touch ups here and there.
It’s been raining a lot this week and I have had the hood up, and I’ve noticed it is much noisier in the cabin with the hood up as opposed to the hood down.
Really enjoying driving it through!

Hi again

Good time to purchase an NC because the bi-monthly Soft Top Hard Top Magazine which you should be receiving any time now as a member is

Celebrating ‘20 years of the NC’

Defo concentrate on rust protection and paint touch ups as priorities :+1:

‘Much noisier with the hood up than with the hood down’

Can’t advise you here as have an NB

But hopefully some one with an NC will come along to your post and assist

Duh…numpty me

Now you know which MX-5 you have you can start a new thread about the noise you are experiencing with the roof up in your NC

Possibly noise coming up through the roof drain tubes. There’s a rubber flap at the bottom under the car that can get stuck open. That’s what mine was anyway.

The previous owner of the car said he removed them rubber flaps from the drainage holes to help with getting the water out. That’s probably not helping the cause.
Thank you :+1:
