New Member North Oxfordshire

Hi, New member, recently acquired my first Mx5 at GT Sport Tech RF. Love it so far reminded me of my first car a Triumph Spitfire which perhaps shows my age.

Hi Retrob0t

Cool set of wheels :+1:

You’re not alone…my second car was a Triumph Spitfire Mk IV and when I purchased Bullit [2005 NB 1.8 Icon] in 2007 it just took me a 10 minute drive around the showroom car park to buy her because she immediately reminded me of my Triumph Spit !!

Welcome :handshake:

Welcome from Hertfordshire.

Welcome from Dorset. Lovely car. I have a ND 1.5 and once owned a Spitfire 1500 back in the 70s.

Wheels really finish the car off.

Welcome to the forum.
This is what my Spitfire 1500 looked like when I bought it many years ago. I think one of the wheels had come off and this was the end result. The damage was mainly the bonnet so it looks much worse than it was.

Looked better with a new bonnet!

Still a good looking car :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:, Im hoping the Mx is a tad more reliable.

My Triumph Spit was always reliable…but went to ‘Rust Heaven’ far quicker than my NB :smiling_face_with_tear:

Mine was too, mind you I only had it a couple of years before I sold it as I was getting married and I needed a deposit on a house! I have fond memories though, although I always hankered after a GT6 or TR6 which I couldn’t afford. It was many years later that I managed to afford a fun car again.

Nice colour!

Just do what I’ve done and have one of each! (I also had a Stag at one point which was a lovely car and I wish I still had it)

Two lovely cars.

Welcome from Aberdeenshire :scotland:

I like the black on black.

TR6 is one of my all time favourite cars.

Hello there👋

I’d have loved a TR6 but couldn’t afford that, or a Spitfire. I had a Herald soft-top.

Perhaps that explains why a fair few of us on the Forum like Retrob0t are ‘showing our age’ :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

First car was an Escort Mk I so of course I hankered after an RS2000
Then with the Spit I wanted a Stag

But content now with Bullit NB 1.8 Icon :joy:

My first ever car was a Triumph 2000 Mk 2. Beautiful old straight 6!
