New Member old car. replace oil seals Yay or Nay

Looking good, Allen!
I finally got mine running again at the weekend. New water pump inlet pipe fitted and all is well. I also took the opportunity to remove the expansion tank and clean it up. I had to lift the cam cover off after the first start as there was an awful bearing type noise, which turned out to be that I had forgotten to torque up the cam sprockets. I blame old age. D’oh!!

Hi Mike, its all looking good, sorry for the long delay in getting back to you. I’m no further on with the body work on mine, I’m still looking for someone to come and do the welding. Sounds as though you saved a big problem catching the cam sprockets before they let go. Have you had it out and about yet. Allen.

Not yet, Allen. It’s now in my garage with the body from the screen backwards stripped down for a respray (front end is fine). I originally painted the rear end back in 2016 (scabby arches), but the acrylic paint cracked over the last 18 months or so, so I’m taking it back to bare metal and using cellulose this time…
