New member -Peterborough area with a tech question - Wheel alignment

I Joined at the Silverstone Classic last month and great to see all the cars on show . Hope to start to get more involved and just wanted pointing to the right place or getting some guidance if ok.

Having my tyres changed tomorrow and aware the car has had a shock changed in the past on the rear, looking at the tyre wear the geometry must be out on that side. So going to get the alignment done as well as the tyres. Do I just get them to set up based on their vanilla spec for the car or is there a realistic setup spec I can provide that is more aligned to the car rather than factory default. I have seen posts where people are suggesting they get a negative response when presenting something different for the garage to work from . Hence just wanted some guidance for a totally standard spec NC on a 55 plate with standard 16 inch wheels. Any feedback or pointing in the right direction would really be welcomed. Thanks v much .

I would recommend a set of Eibach lowering springs followed by a geometry setup by Joe at Wheels in Motion, Chesham.

You will not be disappointed!

I found Bush Tyres in Boston to be very good for 4 wheel alignment.

I had my car lowered at EMG Mazda Boston (-30mm Mazda lowering springs) and EMG used Bush tyres. The car was set to factory spec and handles great for every day road use.

There is a Bush Tyres in Spalding, but have not used them. May be worth giving them a call as fairly local.

Hi 1954

I am very interested in the work you had done at EMG Boston, I use this dealer and Marriotts Mazda before that.  I am seriously thinking of having my Mk 3.75 lowered with springs and anti roll bar upgrade.  Do you recall how much this cost you?  Also I would go for a 4 wheel alignment.

The car I had lowered at Marriotts who supplied and fitted the Mazda springs in March 2017 cost around £360 + approximately £60 for the 4 wheel alignment at Bush Tyres.

Prices may have gone up in that time, plus the dealership is now owned by EMG.

I’m planning to take my MK3.5 to EMG in the spring of 2020 to have it lowered. So would be interesting to know what they quote you if you decide to use them, I think most of the technicians are the ex Marriott guys.

I think you will find when the car has been lowered, 4 wheel alignment carried out, together with a good set of tyres at the correct pressure, the roll bar upgrade will not be required for normal road use.
