New NC3.75 owner in Nottingham!

Hello!

I’m both a new MX-5 owner - I bought mine just after Christmas - and also new to Nottingham so I’m really looking forward to getting involved with the community!
I will also say if you’ve got an NA and got waved at by an NC yesterday (Friday) - your car is a beautiful example of a MK1!

Also not sure how many people are around my age - this is technically my first car so I’m on the younger side :joy:
If anyone around here is also thinking of heading up to the spring rally I’d be interested in meeting you too! I’m mostly committed to going but it would be just myself so if I could find some people to come with me that would be great!

I’ve attached some photos. “Jackie” which comes from Jackie Daniels 53 BOW who’s currently A bone stock 3.75 Sport Venture.
The end goal is OEM+ - mainly updating some bits like the radio and removing the glossy interior plastics/wrapping them and the rest of the car accents in a uniform metallic silver to contrast the brown Titanium Flash paint. In the shorter term the most major thing I’d like to do is lower the seats down and add in a tasteful small rear spoiler, which I have some further ideas to mess around with once I have that installed, as well as delete the radio antenna.

In the more long term, I’d also like to replace the seats - again nothing crazy here just more OEM+ and most likely lower the car on new shocks very slightly. The number I seem to get banded about is 25mm.

Some of the DIY bits I’d like to do is build my own box to allow the roof to be put down with the keys/pressing (rather than holding) the button, as well as modernising some of the car controls. I’m very handy with electronics so this is more of a “I want to tinker” than “I need this feature”

I’ve also added some photos of my move up here - she was packed better than some of the examples over on r/miatalogistics if I do say so myself! Having your only car be a small roadster was a bit of an oversight when about to move house!
I’ve not got tons of photos yet unfortunately - life events have unfortunately not given me many weekends to go for a nice drive into the country somewhere to get some glam shots - if anyone knows some good places to go in and around Nottinghamshire please let me know!

Welcome along, nice looking car and sounds like you have some good ideas to personalise it.

Feel free to start and keep updated a ‘build’ thread in the ‘readers rides’ sub section.

Well we have a plate in common!

Welcome to the club and hope you enjoy your MX5

Welcome to the club, tasty first car :sunglasses: :+1:

Brilliant! love that contrast - and those vents really work on that bonnet!

Is the chrome on the fog lights stock?

Yes MX5 Parts.

Welcome to the 5 family.

Welcomer to the club.

The problem you’ll encounter is that there’s a physical latch which needs to be engaged/disengaged to open/close the PRHT. Both SmartTOP and MX5things have produced modules which allow single-press opening/closing of the roof (once the latch has been engaged/disengaged).

This is what I was looking to emulate!

Having looked at the latch I reckon with enough time and resources I could replace it, but I’d doubt I will as that in itself isn’t an issue - although I do like the idea of the smartTOP’s idea of auto-taking off the roof once the latch comes off.

All things for me to look into!
