New owner of ND 1.5 Sport Nav

Hi everyone. Having hit a milestone birthday earlier this month, I decided my boring diesel dad taxi wasn’t scratching my petrol head itch…

So, I picked up this ND yesterday after a lengthy search. Reasonable mileage @ 55K but condition is good for mileage and age.

My wife had an NA when I met her (many many years ago), so super grateful to be able to get back in to an MX5.

Had a reasonable drive home on what I think was the only sunny day of 2023 so far, so was able to get the roof down. Had a big smile on my face. These things are such good fun.

Special mention for the ceramic colour, which in the sun looks white and silver and blue all at once.

A big thank you to this forum which was really useful when researching.

Happy Birthday and welcome to the MX-5 fold!

Age/mileage combo can make for a good buy if the car’s been looked after. Congrats & enjoy :grinning:

Good choice. Pick of the crop in my only slightly biased opinion. Similar in weight and performance to a 1.8 NA, every sensible feature you could want and not saddled with ie-loop, i-stop etc., and with the engine it was designed for.

I’m hanging on to my 2017 Arctic for as long as I have a driving licence and can get in and out of it. The car that finally convinced me that horsepower is not the answer. There’s far more engagement for me in actually having to drive it.

The gearbox oil should have been changed at 5 yrs, but do it anyway. Also change the diff oil, which is not on the service schedule at all. There is a horror story of the diffs being found to have 3 teaspoons of black treacle in them - mine was clear and well filled when I changed it, but best to make sure especially with a few miles up.

It’s going to be a great summer.
