New stock back box - empty inside.

Hi

I’ve just bought a back box from one of the biggest UK producers of exhaust systems.

When I checked it looks like there is nothing inside. No filling. Also I don’t see baffles.

I don’t want to have my car louder than stock. But if I fit it I won’t be able to return it.

Do you have any experince with aftermarket stock exhaust ?

Give them a call and ask them about it.

I will but today is too late.

I’ve noticed that there are 2 baffle plates (the dead housefly stops on them when moving a backbox )

Is this a guess the manufacturer thread?

Aye Mick.

If we knew what it was, he’d have his answer in a trice more than like.

Hi

yours looking into the inlet pipe i take it

if so you probably wont see anything

the box will be basically sectioned into 3 parts

the centre section you can see which will be an empty space this then goes through baffles plates into 2 more sections one each side which effectively is a box inside the main box which leads to the tail pipes one each side

so this is why you cant see a baffle as your looking into the empty centre section

I doubt very much that an exhaust manufacturer, albeit an unknown one, would send you a faulty and incomplete exhaust.

There are various designs of exhaust silencer, one of which is an outer casing with a smaller inner casing, the gap between being filled with sound deadening material.

In this type if you look in through the inlet it appears to be an empty box.

There are various other methods employed which I won’t go into at the moment as it will only complicate matters.
