New to mx5 - rear fog & interior light query

 Afternoon all,

Got my mx5 about 3 weeks ago, had the roof down every time i’ve driven her as long as it’s not raining (Who cares if it’s 6am freezing cold and overcast?!)

I’ve a few questions (used the search function but to no avail):-

1) How do i remove that ugly box rear fog light?! the only way i think i can do it is by either taking the rear bumper off or by hitting it… really hard… with a hammer…

2) Where can i get bulbs for the interior? Preferably white leds as the light is better. The bulb blew in the drivers side interior light / map light, i switched it with the passengers one and on doing so it broke as well so currently step in to darkness if the natural light is already dim.

Thanks very much to anyone who can help, it’s very much appreciated Big Smile

Are there are couple of screws holding the red lens on the foglight? If so and if you remove the lens this might reveal some internal fasteners that attach the light housing to the rear bumper reinforcment.

If you remove the ugly rear fog light you may be left with an even uglier cutout in the rear bumper skin.

You can fit a red bulb in the O/S reversing light holder and wire this up to the fog light switch.

Fog lamp bolts from behind the bunper, two 10mm nuts.

If you wait long enough, the bracket may rust (as mine did) and then the fog lamp will fall out of its own accord (as mine did), but not before I spent an hour or so trying to locate which part of the exhaust system had “started to rattle”!!

Thanks for the swift replies folks Smile tried getting the lens off but it wouldn’t budge and there’s no apparent rust anywhere so don’t think its gonna fall off any time soon Big Smile so roadster robbie’s option is next on the list, fingers crossed it’ll be gone this weekend!

Anyone got any ideas about the Interior Light??? Managed to find a post somewhere that said the bulb size but i literally can’t find a replacement anywhere!? Halfords were chuffing useless as their version of the necessary bulb was about 3 times the size it should be… clever people.

Any further help with this issue would be aaaaaaace Big Smile

Thanks peeps, Jack

This type of bulb is known as a festoon bulb. If you can measure the length then Phoenix Auto Bulbs or Auto Bulbs Direct should be able to fix you up (just Google 'em).

every halfords seem so different! i found the right bulb in my halfords :open_mouth:
