Hi, I’m a young car enthusiast and I’ve just bought a 2002 MX-5 1.6i Mk2.5. I’ve always thought these were great cars, but I’d never thought about buying one, and I’d never expected to do so. But now I’ve got one, and I absolutely love it… I can’t believe I initially wanted to buy a Rover 45.
My car is (what I hope will be) a fantastic example, it is genuinely such a credit to the previous owner, and I am so grateful that he was open and honest in both the advert and in person. If you are seeing this, thank you again!!!
My insurance starts in December (it was a lot cheaper to start it in about three weeks time from the online quote), so I’ll be taking it out properly then… weather permitting of course.
I am so excited to own such a great little car and I’m glad it has such a large and welcoming community!!!
Here are some photos of the car I’ve taken over the past few days:
Welcome to the club and congrats on your superb taste and purchase, wishing you many smiles per mule. I’ve had wood trim installed in my '02 SVT and love it
Dom, you are entirely welcome and thanks for the kind words. I loved it too and I’m so pleased that it’s gone to someone who appreciates it.
Seems like (at 70), I’ve passed the baton to the younger generation of owners… Enjoy, I certainly did
Already got a quote sorted, around £1750 for the first year… A lot of money for sure but surprisingly cheaper than a lot of other cars I considered (and cheaper than my cousin’s Honda Jazz)!! I’ll join the membership eventually I’m sure, and I did consider the member insurance but it was important to me that I get some NCB and I wasn’t sure if they did that as part of it… Thank you for the suggestion either way
Brilliant buy, lovely colour.
Next year treat yourself, or ask for family to contribute to a track day where you will really enjoy it without the worry of a ticket!!
consider doing the ROSPA or IAM driving test to improve your skills for little money
