New Years's Day Walk

Hi All
We are planning, if the weather is suitable, to arrange a walk and meet up at Elvaston Castle, Country Park in the Main Car Park, B5010, Derby DE72 3EN. If it is raining heavy or snowing, we will cancel as it will not be pleasant to walk. We are hoping to suss out another meet up point and short run prior to meeting at the car park, but will up date nearer the time.
We are planning to take a flask and sandwiches etc with us to eat at some point, however if anyone knows of anywhere in the vicinity for refreshments please let us know.

Car Parking Charges

  • 2 hours - £2.50
  • 4 hours - £4.50
  • all day - £7
    Where collected by honesty box, the charge is £2 per day.

Wyatt’s Cafe is very good at Elvaston Castle, but check if it is open on New Years Day.

Hi All

We have been. to do a recki for this walk and decided it would be best just to go straight to Elvaston Castle Country Park to meet up. Please bring Wellingtons or Boots. Due to recent rain and snow, it was very muddy and wet, so hopefully it may have dried out a bit before we go.
Hope to see you all at 11:30 am if you are sober.

Morning Everyone
Sadly we have to say that the New Year’s Run has been cancelled.
Speaking to a number of you last night at the Cooper’s and text messages from Julie, Ian and Carol-Ann and David and Cath we have discovered that Elvaston Castle Country Park has been badly affected by recent wind and rain and is closed for the present time. At this short notice and at times lately with very difficult weather patterns we will have to postpone this meet up. Hopefully at sometime in the future, we may be able to manage another ad hoc meet up for a country walk if anyone is interested, when the weather settles down.
