Newbie

Hello MX5 land…

I have owned my 2003 Nevada spec MX5 for a couple of months now and have joined the Scottish section of this forum. I have tonight joined the members club and thought I should introduce myself.

Anyway I am a self employed engineer living in the north of Scotland, (Inverness), I also own classic Mini’s and have been very active in that area for the past 10 years or so, I am a moderator on the Scottish mini forum and started a Mini club in the Inverness area called IMOG, (Inverness Mini Owners Group). We have a facebook page and website if any of you are interested.

So back to the real reason for this message. Here is a picture of my Mazda,

I have bought a nice stainless exhaust system for the car from MX5Parts which will be fitted on Friday.

The middle bit was also delivered but that picture isn’t as shiny!! I like shiny…

I am hoping to attend the local and some national MX5 events over the coming months and look forward to meeting fellow enthusiasts.

I don’t really know if any other folk from Inverness are on this forum, but I will keep an eye out in case there are any local runs coming up.

My main reason for getting this car is for summer runs out to the west coast, Its not a daily driver and will only do about 2-3k per year.

Looking forward to a fun year,

Andy.

Hi Andy and welcome from me in West Yorkshire, I also like classic minis, nearly bought one but to be honest I gave up as a lot were overpriced rust buckets, that’s why I went down the path of mx5 ownership

I do go on a site called TotalMINI as I also own a new MINI (2006) so  I tend to look on both classic and modern sections

A wee picture of my mini’s. I hope this is allowed on an MX5 forum. lol

The 1275gt, a 1978 car.

My 1380cc fast road mini. (Haggis).

The MX5 is the only car I have driven that can keep up with Haggis.

And my man cave!!

I hope you like.

Hello and welcome Cool       Love Haggis, reminds me of one I used to rally, that was a 1360, S/C gear box and LSD on Koni adjustable’s

Thank You. Yeah Haggis has a RE13OT Calver ST cam with 1.5/1 roller tip rockers, a full Maniflow stage two exhaust, Big valve race head, Fully balanced and lightened bottom end/fly wheel, centre strap, Straight cut MED drop gears, cross pin diff, 3.76 final drive, 4 pot brakes, fully adjustable suspension, and a full rolling road set up. 112bhp in a car that weighs 680kg. not a lot can keep up with it in the corners, he runs out off puff at 90mph though due to the gearing I have set up.

I built the whole car nut and bolt over a 7 year period. I built the engine and gearbox myself. All the welding and painting was also me… Its a bit of a hobby.

But I know nothing about the MX5 so will be asking lots of stupid questions for a while.

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum from another former Mini fan.
