Hi folks , I’m a newbie to the club & trying this posting business for the first time. I live in Bangor & kids are up & away so for the past year I ve had a red '05 Mk 2.5 sport for myself & management to use at weekends & nice evenings. We love it so far. I realise I’ve joined at the wrong end of the season but hopefully i can get along & be ready for next year.
However my insurance renewal is coming up & reading the reviews in the STHT magazine i am a little confused as to where to go. Is there a recommended agent/broker/company for us here in NI?

Regarding MX-5 Insurance, there is no recommended broker/agent as such, here in Northern Ireland. Any of the companies advertised in STHT should be able to provide insurance cover in NI.
Personally I just use a comparison website to find a competitive policy and change it around from year to year as necessary to get the best deal. In the past I have found that they will normally be able to beat any of the so called “specialists” (although you need to compare like with like and make sure you are getting the cover that you want). This year I think I am with 'Legal and General’
However this will depend on your car and your circumstances, age etc. For example if your car has been modified, or if you need track cover, then a specialist will be the way to go.
I find that Club members here use a wide variety of companies and there does not seem to any particular ‘front runner’ as such.
Hopefully a few Club members from the NI Area will respond with a few more suggestions!
As Andrew stated above, quite a few members are from the Bangor area (including myself) and a large number are from the wider Co Down area. Although we are getting close to the end of the year for Club runs, there will still be a few indoor events to come. Hope to see you at some of these if it suits.
By the way, the AGM for the NI Area will be held on Wednesday 4 November at 7pm at the Civil Service Pavilion at Dundonald. You would be more than welcome to join us on that occasion.
