Have you tried the old A361 to South Moulton??
It’s the old A road that preceded the new (ish) N Devon link road.
Head North through Bolham to Black Cat and turn left when you get to the T junction where you turn right for Bampton.
The climb from the Exe valley snakes magically up to the ridge and the ridge itself is fast and flowing with the exception of one sharp right hander shortly after the climb.
If you haven’t tried it, give it a whirl and maybe back on the Rackenford road.

Not sure if you saw last reply.Although some distance (about 1hr) I always used Phil Brooking at Brooklands garage Truro.
He mainly does servicing and restoration and sales of MX and is definitely the best I could find.
Look forward to bumping into you (not literally ) in Tavistock at some point
