Noisy Heater Fan in Passenger Footwell - Mk 3.5 (2009)

The interior heater/fan in my Mk3.5 is starting to become a little noisy. It’s not really a rattle, but I can certainly hear when it’s running.

So are there any user serviceable parts that I can clean or replace?

Thanks

It could be a twig or leaf caught in the blower motor housing, the motor drops out from underneath it allow access.

Not had this issue with my NC, but had similar on my old (now long defunct) NA.
Rather than trying to take it all apart, I just put a powerful vacuum cleaner hose on the input trunking, and it sucked out a couple of leaves which were scraping the fan blades, with perfect results…
Worth a try?
Simples!
Just my free advice - money back if not happy!

Thanks - I’ll take a look this weekend.

I’ve removed the fan, and there is no leaves etc, but inside the pipes its a little wet - is this normal?

Don’t know, never looked. Condensation on the evaporator is normal.

I don’t know if they have a pollen filter but if there is it might blocked. I had this with a Volvo which was full of small leaves, seeds and general muck. A new one made a big difference to the output and noise.

Hi Smiffy.

I experienced something like this with my last MX 5.It was more like a rolling sound.  I had an auto electrician out the day after to check it, but the noise did not return. He assumed it may be the fan motor bearing on its way out.

I hope this is of use.
