Number Plate Light Removal NC

I have a very small piece of paint work bubbling near the LH number plate light mounted on the underside of the boot lid on my 2010 NC, can any members give me some guidance on how to remove the number plate light please to allow me to rectify the paintwork.

Thanks in advance.

Hiya, the lights just snap into place. If you get a plastic trim removal tool or a dull flat screwdriver, they slide a little bit towards the middle of the boot IIRC, then just gently prise out. The connector is exposed when the light is removed and can be unplugged. You may encounter resistance due to the gasket sticking to the boot lid, just go gently and they will pop out, one end is a broad clip that locates into a cut out in the aperture, the other end is a spring clip but plastic so just go gently. A bit like the side repeaters on the wings TBH.

Hi, thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

Coupled with Barries explaination find below a picture of mine removed, you’ll see how the light fits, same orientation both sides. If you have the soft top then it’s an aluminium boot lid, PRHT model it will be a steel boot lid, so no doubt rust has set in on the steel. A common occurrence on either model.

Thanks for your photograph showing the light fittings removed.

Mine is a soft top so an aluminium boot lid. I just have a small bubble of paint / corrosion on the LH boot lid light so I thought I would deal with it now as its only a small area probably 5mm wide X 10mm long, along the edge of the gasket.

Looking at the photograph of the light fitting from Barrie, just to clarify, which clip fits into the RH slot on your photograph.

Picture of the left side light hole, both the same each side. Looking at Barries light fitting the long clip (left of fitting) locates in the left of the slotted hole in the lid. The cut-out  (right) in the hole is to accommodate the wiring connector as you clip it back in. An old credit card slips in nicely behind the fitting to release the clips

As you can see in the pics mine had corrosion both sides, now fixed you can’t see where I’ve been with the rattle can, it’s also had a few coats of lacquer which was lacking from factory under there.
