I was looking for a GPS digital speedo, but came across this, which also gives you a wealth of other information, the most interesting to me being oil temp, for which the ND doesn’t have a gauge. Gotta be worth a punt at £20.89 with free delivery from Ali Express?
My MY2023 ND supplies oil temp via data from the ODB port and displays it on my ODB app on my phone. As well as wheel temps and pressures, and battery state of charge.
Where are the ‘senders’ for the wheel temperature and the oil temperature? As far as I can see the wheels and TPS monitors are the same for ND2 and 3. Sorry not convinced, perhaps our tame Mazda Guru can advise.
I have a simple gps speedo which needs usb power from the cigarette lighter socket.
I love it, I get a big single speed display always visible with a twitch of the eye (amazon £23), they are adjustable accuracy so I try to get it to match my gps so I know what actual speed I am doing.
Bear in mind that all these things will get hard to read on a sunny day with the top down though due to brightness and reflections!
If all you really wanted was the speed, you may be best sticking to those types.
I assume that anything you plug into the obd port will constantly draw power, even when the car is off so unless you buy an adaptor wire with a switch built in and remember to use it, or unplug it every time, you could have battery issues.
If you like gadgets then fair enough, give it a try but you could get the torque pro app and get the info from the obd for a specific purpose as long as you have a obd dongle (worth having). I imagine that you will not use the info other than speed after a very short time.
(Dont forget aliexpress add the vat on at checkout).
I’ve ordered the OBD HUD and one of the below GPS speed displays (£8.60 incl delivery). I’ll report back when they arrive in a couple of weeks and let you know how I get on with them…
