OBD2 Reader for iPhone

I have read about obd2 devices and ordered one yesterday.  I read that Android users like using Torque software for interpreting the data.  For iPhone there appears to be a lot of software like EOBD, BleuDriver OBD2 (both free).  Then there is Dashcommand (£7) or Rev, or Gopoint.  I can’t find many reviews.  Suggestions please?

I’ve been through the same process I’m moving to Android. Torque Pro seems far ahead of any of the iPhone Apps.

I couldn’t even get my bluetooth adaptor to connect with my iPhone. Does the one that you’ve ordered say that it works with iPhone?

Hi Robbie. I hope it will connect to the iphone. It has not arrived yet!!

Bluetooth OBD2 and iPhone is a no no, OBD2 WiFi and iPhone will work, it’s the opposite for Android. If anyone wants a WiFi OBD2 they can have mine for £15 p&p.

Hi - You are correct the Wifi OBD device is required to connect to an iPhone or iPad and a Bluetooth one for other phones. I now have a wifi OBD2 device and have found the port on the MX5 Mk3 (below the boot release catch on the drivers side up under the footwell near the door side). Now what software is the best to use with the device? Suggestions please??

Logworks is free but may require the Innovate OT2 for proper functionality, otherwise Dashcommand, EngineLink or Rev. I’ve tried Enginelink but couldn’t get any Mazda extended PIDs to work hence I went to Torque Pro on Android.

I have tried EOBD by Facile for the basic version is free & works ok but the full one is £10.49. Then there is Dashcommand for £6.99 but no free trial. Finally Enginelink for £3.99. I will not get Rev (though tried rev lite) because the upgrade is £27.99 & it does not look better than the others. I am tempted to buy the cheapest one as they all appear similar though Enginelink will only work on one device so I would have to buy again for my iPad if I want it on that as well! The app reviews are all a little mixed. Any more advice before I take the plunge?

I’m using dashcommand and can highly rate it. Its almost as good as Torque which I have also used but the wifi of iphone and dashcommand gives you a slightly better refresh time, not that that is a big deal given that OBD is a fairly slow protocol.

I bought Dashcommand & it seems pretty good. It also allows you to log several cars which is a bonus.

Over a decade latter and I am following this weary path for a odb2 reader for i-phone to get my 2002 S-VT going, I am having trouble getting past the review stage for the Apps was DashCommand worth it ?

In the hope you are still a member TIA.
